#7DAY WRITING CHALLENGE

Oh, God! The peppermints!

Oh, god! The peppermints!

Well, you never know the power of peppermints. They have the power to make our cell feel energetic, our lungs will feel relaxed and our brain cells refreshed, as they smell and as they eat them! Jo said to Dave.

Really? Yes! My mom told me this morning and she made me feel it! You should also try this! Jo said to Dave.

Jo and Dave were neighbors and classmates studying grade 5. Ah! valentine’s week was just a week away and all of them were asking their crushes to go for a prom. And so were Jo and Dave searching for their pair to dance with!

Jo had a huge crush on Jessica and Dave on Kate. Both of them were scared to ask each other and kept on postponing. As the day came closer, they had no other choice but to ask them. They decided to ask them the next day.

The next day arrived. Jo got ready with a rose and a letter to impress her and made a few times practice his dialogue before getting out of his home for school. Dave wore his favorite wrist watch presented by his grandfather. And walked down the stairs and to the living room. He saw his mother was making the breakfast of egg and omelet to her younger sister for which her younger sister said, ‘Mom, a pepper a little less!’ as her was spraying pepper on her omelet she was preparing. Just then her phone rang and she left the place to get her call. Dave paused as he heard the word Pepper and came to that place, saw the powder, he looked at the clock, and hurried taking the pepper powdered bottle along with him.

The reached the school, 10 minutes late! A punishment was given to make them. Hang there for a few minutes, run the big ground three times. As he was running, he lost his grip, fell on the ground and his watch in his hand hit a stone, and the face of the watch was broken. What an ugly day! He cried as it was his precious gift from his grandfather. It was more precious for his as it was the gift his grandmother had gifted to his grandfather in the name of Love!

Phew! He kept it in his bag and the first period was missed by him. Jo patted him and gave him a good companion. The interval came and now Jo and Dave got ready to ask their girls for the prom.

Jo took out his roses and the letter and saw Dave didn’t have any. He gave one of the roses from his. Dave took the rose and now he wore the broken wristwatch as a sign of good luck and both of them walked to their girls. Dave returned again and sprinkled some pepper powder on the surface of the watch as a sign of luck and now proceeded to his girl.

Both of the other side of the corridor, Jo went to the girl and was asking her while Dave too went to his girl and asked her for the prom. Both of them, after series of smiles exchanged, she agreed. Dave was happy and they hugged. They hugged and his left hand in which he wore the wrist watch, making that hand touch her shoulder as a sign of hug, the watch was now near his nose, and the pepper got into his nose, and a huge sneeze was heard!

Ah! oh my god! Kate, removed herself from him as she was deadly scared. Three sneezes in a row! The whole people at the corridor now had their eyes on him.

A hall of silence for a few minutes, it took sometime for the world to make a move and Dave to realize what had happened. Jo came running and asked Kate if she is okay and went on to Dave who was on the floor siting and rubbing his nose with his handkerchief.

What happened to you Dave? All of a sudden? Jo put forth his question! Nothing he said as he was very embarrassed and wanted to leave the place. Kate stood there consoling him and she understood his privacy and said to him, never mind Dave, lets meet after sometime and I didn’t take this into my mind. She said and Jo and Dave left the place to their classroom.

Jo and Dave alone in their classroom as it was interval and all were out roaming around the corridor.

Dave said that he had a sneeze all of a sudden. He looked at his broken wrist watch and removed it and said, it is not a good luck to me. And this peppermint, added, nothing happened! He said the last sentence in a rude voice.

Jo looked at him and asked, ‘What? Peppermint? Where?

Dave took the pepper powdered bottle from his bag and showed Jo. Jo smelled it, looked at him and gave a loud laughter! Hahahhahhaahh! It was a long train of laughter. His eyes were filled with tears from laughing.

He looked at Dave and said, ‘These are not peppermints! It’s pepper! And he laughed again. Dave was now shocked and asked him how.

Jo showed his peppermint and explained him about it. Dave looked very sad now and Jo gave him a good piece of advice and said, we learn by sharing information. And it wasn’t any worse. Kate will not consider your act of sneezing. Come on man! He said and gave him a hug.

He said, I am going to remember this whenever I hug anyone, Dave said to Jo. Haha! You will get over it very soon, Jo comforted him.

Since then, Dave never wore a wrist watch. He had his grandpa’s watch in his bag but never ever wore any of the watches in his life and never hugged anyone deeply. It will take him several years to get over it
